At Avenues for Justice, we place our clients first, and we are committed to leveraging the maximum amount of resources for them. We make decisions and offer services uniquely suited to the youth we serve, and we pride ourselves on keeping our overhead low and our effectiveness high. We are grateful to an engaged board of directors, community, and an extraordinary team of volunteers who help us provide life-changing resources to the youth we serve while keeping administrative costs low. We have been awarded a four-star rating by Charity Navigator for the fifth consecutive year as of 2014.
As of our most recent audit for calendar year 2020, 83% of our total costs went directly to program expenses. With our headquarters based in donated space inside the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse so that staff can respond quickly to youth entering for court dates, AFJ gets 89% of its funding from the private sector.
