Volunteer

Change a young person's life -- and your own -- by volunteering to help AFJ enrich the lives of at-risk teens.
Cindy Ruskin (left) and Marty Umans (right) have volunteered with us for over a combined 30 years, teaching art and creating art with our participants.

Volunteers are an essential part of the AFJ program and past volunteers have helped our youth with their school work, preparing for the New York State's Regents exams, and the college admissions process. Additionally, we are looking to expand our programing for our youth so if you have an interest you would like to develop into projects for our youth, please share them with us!

We are looking for volunteers in variety of tasks, including:

Hip-Hop Workshops:
We are looking for someone who can connect with our youth through hip-hop, giving them the opportunity to express themselves and discuss the different issues that they face in a positive and therapeutic manner.

After-School Tutoring:
Tutors are needed to help students with school work, and prepare them to take Regents Tests  (in history, English, math, and science) and GED/HSE prep.
